It's bad enough too that they're detected when they're really close to enemy ships- even at their deepest depth. We should be thinking about what we're going to do to have these ships be strong enough to contribute. All they get is a temporary submerge ability along with slow speed, low HP, no armor, no main guns, no AA, and very few torps. Subs have the concealment DDs have, but nothing else, no smoke, HP, speed, maneuverability, speed boost, main guns or the 4-15 torpedo salvos. Rarely are the weaknesses brought up (unless they want to bash the idea). I've noticed in a lot of sub threads people tend to focus on about theoretical strengths subs have. It's important to remember subs aren't safe while submerged, there are depth charges. I think that some people are looking at this 3 dimensional issue with 2 dimensional glasses. I'm sure something will be done to counter them in some way, but not to the point of being crippled. If they stay roughly the same as the video is: only able to fire while surfaced, they are completely safe while submerged. The question is not only for you but for the first guy I quoted.īalance is truly key here and people have to remember that "if" these are implemented into the game, they will be the only ship type that can submerge, well alive at least. What else should they get, a speed boost? Smoke when they surface? So it looks like 25 knots is already there and then some.

So, hypothetical here, what happens if they have 12km range torps that travel at 64 knots? How about 16km range and the same speed? Honestly, the only thing that is needed when it comes to these from the looks of it is the ability to aim and get back under the water.ĮDIT: Read the comment above me and the person he quoted.

Complete invisibility, unlike a Destroyer who has smoke, coupled with even 10km torps would be enough to lock down any given cap point.Ģ5 knot+ travel speed isn't a necessity, it would only make the ship type over powered unless, as I said before, it loses something. I would highly doubt it considering "balance" would be at hand. So are the Subs going to automatically have short range (4km to 6km) torps? Or even slower than normal torps to the point that they can be out run?
